The Handwoven Backpack
For more than twenty years, the backpack has been a continually evolving part of my creative practice. What began as an exploration of material and function has become an ongoing conversation between weaving, design, and the everyday objects we carry.
I have always been interested in the space between art and utility, and in the possibility of bringing handwoven cloth into daily life rather than keeping it precious or untouched. Each backpack is a small composition of color, texture, and pattern, framed by durable waxed canvas and made to travel, weather, soften, and change with use.
This collection of 24 one-of-a-kind backpacks continues that exploration. Each is a reflection of time spent making, and an invitation for the work to take on a life beyond the studio.
The collection will be released in my webshop on Friday, November 13, at 3:00 PM Eastern Time.
